How to Convert a Chase Bank Statement to Excel (Free)

A Chase statement is a PDF. Excel can't calculate from a PDF — you need the transactions as rows. Here's the free way to do it, start to finish.

Convert your Chase statement free

Step 1 — Download your Chase statement as a PDF

  1. Go to chase.com on a desktop browser and sign in.
  2. Open the main menu, then Statements & documents.
  3. Pick the account, then the year and month. Chase keeps up to 7 years of statements online.
  4. Click Open or Save next to the statement and save the PDF to your computer.

Use the PDF downloaded from Chase, not a photo or a scan — it converts far more reliably.

Step 2 — Convert it to Excel

  1. Go to statementwizard.ai
  2. Drop your Chase PDF in the converter. No account needed for your first file — guests get up to 3 conversions a day.
  3. Wait 30–90 seconds. You'll get an Excel (.xlsx) and CSV download with date, description, amount, type, and category.
  4. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets. Sort, filter, total it, or hand it to your bookkeeper.

A free Basic account (signup, still free) keeps 12 months of conversion history so you can reopen a file and download it again.

Check your work

Before you rely on it, check the totals in the spreadsheet against the totals printed on the Chase PDF. If a row looks wrong, fix it in Excel — the converter tells you to review before using it for anything important.

Privacy

Your original PDF is deleted in about 10 minutes. Account numbers (last 4 digits kept), card numbers, government IDs, emails, and phone numbers are masked before the AI extracts the transactions. Guest results are kept up to 7 days so the conversion can finish, then deleted.

Troubleshooting

File won't convert?

Check it's a real PDF under 10 MB, downloaded from Chase, and not password-protected. Password-protected PDFs fail.

Only have a paper statement?

The tool works best on PDFs downloaded from your bank.

Poor image quality?

Poor image quality may not convert well.

Need more than one month?

Convert one file at a time as a guest, or sign up free and do them month by month.
